Every report in Google Analytics will contain metrics and dimensions. These types of data are reported in a table with one column containing value of dimensions and in the rest of a table matching metrics. But let’s take a step back and define metrics and dimensions.
Dimensions are types of data that describe characteristics of our users, their actions and sessions. For example, dimensions of a user is a country where our user is coming from, dimension of a action is a page title that they are visiting and dimension of a session could be traffic source.
Metrics are quantitative measurements of user, actions and sessions. Unlike dimensions, metrics are always numerical and they help us understand the behavior of our customer. Metrics of a user are called audience metrics and they numerically show us total amount of our users, action metrics or conversion metrics show us users actions and behavior metrics average amount of pages that users visits. One of most common metric is Visitor or User Metric, which shows us number of unique users that visit our site. With this metric we can easily see the number of new and returning. Page View Metric counts every time our website or page is clicked on and time metric counts user activity.
With metrics we can measure our bounce rate. Bounce rate can be defined as the percentage of sessions with only one visitor interaction. This is one of a key metrics because it can show us if people are using our site like we imagined and also point our if we have problems on our site like setting wrong expectations or poor user experience. High bounce rate can be positive if our website is one page site (example, blog) and user interaction is measured only on one page.

Interesting blogs to check
Top 5 blogs for this weekend;
Love Jeff's blog! He will write about healthy living and fitness. In his first post I like that his positive thinking made his Co-op a good experience.
Jonathan's Blog will be about food! Can't wait to see his cooking expertise (and hopefully try some).
Olga's blog is about brands. If you need any information about branding yourself and brands in general, this is your blog
Chelsea and Dima have the same passion, soccer. Chelsea is writing about her life as a soccer player and Dima is exploring soccer from another perspective, sport analytics.

My Co-op experience at City of Toronto
I did my Co-op at City of Toronto Marketing, Advertising and Sponsorship Department. Working for the City expanded my view of marketing and what marketers do. I worked on designing marketing and sponsorship proposals, print and electronic media marketing campaigns and social network marketing projects. Some of my duties were working on sponsorship value impression reports, contracts and naming right agreements with sponsors and stakeholders. I learned how sponsorship is structured from the beginning of a process to signing a contract.
During my Co-op I developed a survey for Indigenous Arts Festival at Fort York where I coordinated volunteers and at the end analysed collected survey data and presented findings about audience at Fort York.I also developed proposals for public events and programs (Remembrance Day, Great War, Indigenous Arts Festival, etc.).
During my Co-op I learned a lot about Canadian work culture and working environment in Toronto.
